Delete your LoungeMatch account
You can delete your account in Settings, or request deletion by email without installing the app. Deletion is permanent, not a temporary deactivation.
Delete in the app
- Sign in to the LoungeMatch account you want to delete using your usual sign-in provider.
- Open Profile → Settings → Delete account.
- Read the data-deletion notice, enter your account email and type DELETE, then confirm.
Your signed-in session identifies the account. The email and typed confirmation help prevent accidental deletion. No other user's account can be selected.
Request deletion without the app
Email privacy@loungematch.com with the subject LoungeMatch account deletion request. Send it from the email associated with your account and state that you want your account and associated data deleted. Include your sign-in provider (Google, Apple or LinkedIn).
Email a deletion requestIf an email app does not open, copy the address into your email service. Sending an email submits a request; it does not immediately delete an account. We must verify ownership before an administrator completes deletion, and will reply to confirm the outcome. Never send passwords, sign-in codes or identity documents.
If you use Apple Hide My Email or cannot access your account email, explain that in your request. We will arrange an ownership check; knowing an email address alone does not authorize deletion.
What is deleted, and when?
- On successful deletion: your account/profile, availability and location-sharing data, venue/check-in history, sign-in and usage records, push tokens, contacts/matches and meetup requests, ratings, blocks and reports associated with your account are removed from the active database.
- Chats: your conversations, messages, reactions and conversation encryption keys are removed, including the other participant's messages in those conversations.
- Uploaded photos and voice messages: cleanup of your profile photo and the encrypted files belonging to those conversations is initiated after database deletion. File cleanup is not instantaneous and can be delayed by a storage failure; conversation keys are removed immediately.
Retention and limits
There is no account-recovery grace period. The account and chat records listed above are removed from the active application database immediately on successful deletion. A separate file-cleanup registry retains technical deletion records (account and conversation identifiers, file/message identifiers, media type, file size and timestamps) to support cleanup investigation. These records contain no message content, but currently have no automatic expiry.
Physical files can remain indefinitely if cleanup fails: automatic retries and a maximum deletion period are not currently guaranteed. Infrastructure backups and operational logs are managed separately by our hosting providers and may remain until their retention cycles expire; we have not yet verified a maximum period. Contact privacy@loungematch.com to request investigation and removal of remaining files and cleanup records, or to ask about backup retention.
Deletion cannot remove screenshots, downloads or notifications already saved on another person's device. It does not delete your Google, Apple or LinkedIn account or data held independently by those providers. Any information separately required by law may be retained only for that obligation; we will explain an applicable exception when responding to a request.
